Business consulting

Business consulting is activity of providing expert advice and recommendations to business owners and managers by an expert-consultant or consultant team, aiming certain problems solving or improving the company’s business.

When companies need consulting help?

In business practice, there are several typical situations in which firms choose to hire consultants:

1) When they lack specific expertise in a field (eg. planning, sales, marketing, finance, etc.)

2) When managers do not have enought time to dedicate to certain activities and they are aware that it is important for the company.

3) When the need for certain professional knowledge appers once (eg. during the project implementation)

4) When there is a constant need for certain knowledge, but the scope of work is insufficient for the expert engagement in permanent employment to be profitable.

5) When managers or owners want to get an objective, impartial company assessment and its business.

The first three cases are smaller companies characteristic, which usually do not have the necessary staff specialized in certain areas and in which the managerial role of the owner/director is expressed.

The remaining two cases are larger companies characteristic which strive to make their business more efficient.

How consulting works?

Depending on engagement volume, there are several possible variants of cooperation between company and the consulting team:

Consulting – consultants analyze problems and its causes and give suggestions for measures that need to be implemented to eliminate the problem.

Coordination – consultants coordinate the work of all parties involved in the implementation of a particular process (or project) in order to increase efficiency and meet the set goals.

Routing – consultants supervise the company activities and guide the management in decisions making , with the aim of improving business and achieving better business results.

Realization – consultants take over the complete management of a certain activity, process or project within a pre-agreed deadline.
